Is EMDR Right For You?

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a structured therapy that helps the brain reprocess painful or distressing memories so they lose their emotional “charge.” Instead of erasing memories, EMDR changes the way they’re stored, so they feel less overwhelming and less present in your daily life.

In a typical EMDR session, we’ll identify a memory, belief, or distressing experience you’d like to work on. While you bring it to mind, I’ll guide you through sets of bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements, tapping, or sounds). This process helps your brain reprocess the memory in a healthier, more adaptive way. We’ll always go at your pace, and I’ll make sure you feel safe and supported throughout.

Whether EMDR is right for you depends on your needs, your goals, and your readiness. In our first sessions, we’ll talk through your history and what you’re hoping for in therapy. If EMDR feels like a good fit, we’ll move forward step by step. If not, we’ll explore other approaches that may better support your healing.
